Visit Chomp's petting zoo to meet the common furry, fuzzy and feathered friends that live on our farms.
What role do farmers play in the local food system? Is it just producing food, or perhaps there’s more? Are food waste and food production connected? Just what is gleaning and does it provide creative solutions to feeding people? How does food get from farms to chefs’ kitchens? Does all food need to look uniform and perfect to taste good? Where can you go to see food being produced and get a real farm experience? And, just what can you do to eat more local?
Find out answers to all of these questions and more at the Farmers Village. Partners who work across the spectrum of the food system will be on-hand offering resources, creative ideas and sharing interesting things you may not already know, plus offering plenty of fun activities for all ages.
Join Tree Time from 12pm – 4pm to explore the lush green canopy of a great graceful oak tree named Alice. Watch the river flow by below as blue herons slowly stalk a slippery snack. Climb up the rope system into the tree canopy using a tried and true climbing style for new climbers known as Double Rope Technique, good for climbers age 8 and older. Join us and let life slow down, experience Tree Time.
Welcome to the fourth year of the Conservation Corridor! Come connect with local King County non-profits and community action groups engaging residents in conservation action. Whether it’s learning about native plants that encourage pollinators, what plants to include in your garden for a healthy ecosystem, green building materials for your home, or what lives at the top of a tree, swing by Earth School to learn new skills you can use and share.
The CHOMP! Farmers Market is where you can buy the best local produce and meet the farmers themselves.
The future of our product-driven world is to make new things from the old. The Upcycle Bazaar features the work of our local makers who upcycle materials to keep them in use as long as possible! You’ll be able to learn how small changes can make a huge difference.
A GAME OF WITS AND REFLEXES Curious about what goes in the recycling bin, the commercial compost, and the landfill? Come test your sorting skills at The Recycling Challenge! Play in causal more or add some spice by racing the clock or a friend. Prizes include compostable bags, and yard waste sacks and more! Located in the Conservation Corridor at CHOMP!
It’s that time of year – there is zucchini EVERYWHERE! Decorate your squash, put some wheels on it, and race it at CHOMP! Everyone can participate.
Come create instruments for your own band, then march and play with us at 4:15pm. Create instruments out of upcycled recyclables and fruits and veggies that we provide and join in the HONK! parade at CHOMP!
